About Jawahar Kala Kendra

Jawahar Kala Kendra, known across the city as JKK, is the Government of Rajasthan's multi-arts centre on JLN Marg. Charles Correa designed it in 1986 and the building was completed in 1992; its plan of nine squares follows the Navagraha mandala and echoes the grid of the old city. Inside are the Rangayan auditorium, the open-air Madhyavarti stage in the central court, galleries including Sukriti, Surekh, Sudarshan and Alankar, a library, the Shilpgram crafts ground and a coffee house. The monthly calendar mixes plays, classical and folk music, photography and art shows and handicraft fairs. Lokrang, the national folk dance and crafts festival, is the flagship; the 2026 edition runs from 27 October to 6 November.
