Things to do in Walled City (Pink City)

The walled city is the original Jaipur, founded in 1727 on a planned grid and painted its terracotta pink in 1876. UNESCO added it to the World Heritage list in 2019. City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and the Govind Dev Ji temple sit within a few minutes' walk of each other, and the bazaars between the gates are where the Teej and Gangaur processions pass and where Diwali lighting is at its densest. Events here are mostly heritage walks, food walks, temple festivals and photo tours, not ticketed shows. The Pink Line ends at Badi Chaupar, so the metro is the easiest way in.
