Things to do in Ram Niwas Bagh & Albert Hall

Ram Niwas Bagh is the old public garden just outside New Gate, and Albert Hall Museum stands at its centre. The foundation stone was laid in 1876 and the building opened as a museum in 1887; it is lit up after dark and stays the city's most photographed evening backdrop. The garden also holds Ravindra Manch, the state-run theatre complex, the Jaipur Zoo, which dates from 1877, and the Masala Chowk open-air food court. The AU Jaipur Marathon has traditionally started from the garden's south gate, and charity runs such as the Honour Run use Albert Hall as their start point.
