About Albert Hall Museum
Albert Hall Museum is Rajasthan's state museum, set in the middle of Ram Niwas Garden just outside New Gate. The foundation stone was laid on 6 February 1876 during the Prince of Wales's visit, Samuel Swinton Jacob designed the Indo-Saracenic building, and it opened as a public museum in 1887. The galleries hold pottery, carpets, arms, coins, miniature paintings, sculpture and an Egyptian mummy that remains its most talked-about exhibit. The building is floodlit after dark, and the forecourt becomes an informal evening gathering place. Runs and walks often assemble here: the Honour Run Jaipur on 13 December 2026 starts from the main gate, and the AU Jaipur Marathon passes by every February.
