- Take the metro to Badi Chaupar or Chhoti Chaupar for the lit-up bazaars. In past years police have kept vehicles out of the walled city on Diwali evenings.
- The lights are usually switched on from around Dhanteras, so the evenings of 6 and 7 November give you the display with slightly thinner crowds than Diwali night.
- Old-city markets are generally closed on Sundays, but Diwali week is the exception. Confirm hours for jewellers and utensil shops before a Dhanteras trip.
