About Raj Mandir Cinema
Raj Mandir is Jaipur's landmark single-screen cinema, just off MI Road at Panch Batti. It opened on 1 June 1976 and was designed by W.M. Namjoshi in the Art Moderne style, with a meringue-like exterior and a chandeliered lobby that people come to see as much as the film. The cinema belongs to the Surana family, one of the city's jewellery houses, and the nine stars on its façade stand for the nine gems of the navratna. It screens one big Hindi release at a time, and film-makers use it for launches: trailer events for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in October 2024 and Jaat in March 2025 were held here. For many visitors a show at Raj Mandir is a Jaipur sight in its own right.
