Things to do in Jal Mahal

Jal Mahal is the sand-coloured palace that appears to float on Man Sagar Lake, on the road between the walled city and Amer. The palace itself is closed to visitors, so the place to be is the lakefront promenade, known locally as Jal Mahal ki Pal, which fills in the evening with snack stalls, camel rides and souvenir sellers. The tourism department's Kite Festival on 14 January has been held here in recent years, and running events such as the Jaipur Ultra Marathon use it as a start point. Kanak Vrindavan garden and the royal cenotaphs at Gaitore are a short ride away.
