Things to do in Nahargarh

Nahargarh Fort sits on the Aravalli ridge directly above the walled city. Sawai Jai Singh II built it in 1734 and Sawai Madho Singh later added Madhavendra Bhawan, the palace of matching suites that now shows contemporary sculpture. Most people come for the view: the whole city grid is visible from the ramparts, and sunset is the busiest hour. A wax museum and mirror hall, cafés and a terrace restaurant operate inside the fort area. Trail runs and hill marathons use the forest road, and heritage walks climb the old footpath from the city side. The surrounding forest has wildlife, so leave before the gates close.
